What's on Karen's Needles

I'm Karen and you may have seen me here at A Verb for Keeping Warm. I knit all the time that I'm not here (seriously, you can ask my somewhat neglected family) except for when I'm sewing. I haven't yet met a type of knitting I don't like, and I love lots of types of patterns, yarns and designers. Plus I like to create my own patterns.

Anyway, when I saw this yarn in the store, it was love at first sight. It's appropriately named "Big Smile" by Tahki Stacy Charles. It comes in rich, unassuming colors and because it's 75% cashmere, it's soft and squooshy and absolutely wonderful. It's kind of spendy though, so I waited and plotted and planned. I wanted it to be up around my neck to feel the cashmere. But I didn't want to be too hot, and I wanted to keep the yardage required down. In this picture you see my notes and crazy sketches for the vest I'm creating. Simple ribbing will give it some shaping and a cuddly shawl collar will feel great around my neck.

Hopefully I'll be wearing it to the store soon! And I'll share the pattern too.
