Hand-Sewing, Hand-Applique, Hand-Piecing, & Hand-Quilting - Coming Soon
Instructor: Carolyn Weil & Kristine Vejar
This class is a peaceful way to sit, socialize, stitch, and be inspired. Our focus in this lab is to create by hand, we piece-by-hand, applique-by-hand, quilt-by-hand, and sew-by-hand.
This ongoing lab meets the 4th Sunday of every month.
For the past year, we have been focusing upon Bay Area homes in the style of architecture known as Modern, Mid-Century Modern, and a few eccentric houses for fun (such as Eugene Tsui's fish house). If you are already working on these patterns, you are welcome to continue working on them.
Or, you can bring a project of your own to hand-piece, hand-applique, or hand-quilt. Carolyn, the teacher, is an expert at hand-work, and is available for demonstrations, advice, and inspiration. One of her current, favorite projects is hexies. She or Kristine is happy to show you how to make hexies.
Also, for those of you who have taken the Alabama Chanin class at Verb, this is a great time to come together and to continue to create and stitch your Alabama Chanin related projects. Use the studio to cut a new stencil, paint, and stitch. Get input from group members on fit.
attending this lab, you will develop a strong proficiency in handwork, meet others who appreciate this tradition, and become part of a community in support of your work.
You need not have any piecing, quilting, or sewing experience to join this class.
Absolute beginners are welcome and encouraged to come.
If you are planning to do a project of your own, please bring the appropriate materials. At the shop, we are happy to consult with you in regards to the types of materials you will need to have on hand in conjunction with your intended project.
