The Modern Natural Dyer Work-Along: Phase 3 Kit
Announcing our newest project: The Modern Natural Dyer Work-Along. With Kristine's new book, The Modern Natural Dyer, in hand, she has designed a year long course of study to guide you through the book and the natural dyeing process. Kristine has found that project-based learning helps create a direct method for exploring technique. In the Modern Natural Dyer, there are 20 projects, each exploring a different part of the natural dyeing process. With seasonality in mind, the Work-Along is broken into three phases.
In Phase 3, the focus is on the basics of natural dyeing and creating fun, easy gifts for your friends and family. These are the projects we will work on:
SEPTEMBER PROJECT: Northern Lights Scarf
OCTOBER PROJECT: Mama's Little Teacup Onesie
NOVEMBER PROJECT: Confetti Cowl
DECEMBER PROJECT: Berry Patch Necklace
The main correspondence of the work-along will take place on the Verb blog and on the Verb Instagram account. The first week of every month, we will post an overview of the project, lessons to be learned within that specific project, with tips and tricks to complete the project. The second and third weeks of the month are dedicated to doing the projects. The fourth week of the month, we will show progress photos of the projects.
By working on these projects you will learn:
+ the difference between fiber types
+ to naturally dye protein-based and cellulose-based fibers
+ to plan for projects
+ to work efficiently and effectively
+ to dye with indigo
+ to combine indigo and other dyes
+ to create simple resist patterns on fabric and yarn
+ to dye with dyestuff from your kitchen
+ to dye on unspun fiber
+ and more!

Some fun things to celebrate the start of the Work-Along!
++ This kit includes enough indigo to create one mothers (the concentrated indigo solution) which will dye many items beyond the Northern Lights Scarf. You will have enough to dye yarn, fabric, and finished goods like clothing and table linens, and more!
++ Purchasing this one large kit, rather than a series of smaller kits, you will save over 25%.
++ CANADIAN AND INTERNATIONAL friends, if interested in joining, get in touch and we will give you a shipping quote.
