I find it helpful to look at the moon, to remind myself of my connection with the earth and nature. The simple relationship between our daily lives and the cycles of the moon gives reassurance. To create the moon on this project bag, I used a piece of acrylic cut in the shape of a circle, clamped the circle to a piece of fabric, and then dyed it with indigo. Once the dyeing is completed, the deep blue of the indigo is reminiscent of the night sky, the white circle, an emulation of the moon shining through the darkness. A simple drawstring bag is endlessly helpful; whether to use to carry a knitting project or your lunch. This simple, hand-stitched bag could be easily made out of any number of colors and fabrics. I landed upon the free-form technique of strip piecing (sometimes referred to as strip quilting). I went for a more minimalist approach, but your sketch and quilt may be denser, with more strips, creating more lines. The fabric is handspun, handwoven, and naturally-dyed.
