The Modern Natural Dyer Work-Along: Phase 3 Kit

*** This item is made to order and will be ready to ship or pick-up 7-10 business days from time of order.

In 2016, in celebration of her new book, The Modern Natural Dyer, Kristine designed a year long course of study to guide you through the book and the natural dyeing process. Kristine has found that project-based learning helps create a direct method for exploring technique. In the Modern Natural Dyer, there are 20 projects, each exploring a different part of the natural dyeing process.

Originally, with seasonality in mind, the Work-Along was broken into three phases. Phase 3 ran from September 2016 to December 2016. The main correspondence of the Work-Along took place on the Verb blog and on the Verb Instagram account.

In Phase 3, the focus is on the basics of natural dyeing and creating fun, easy gifts for your friends and family. We think this kit is great to do in the Fall to create holiday gifts.

These are the projects of focus:

Northern Lights Scarf
Mama's Little Teacup Onesie
Confetti Cowl
Berry Patch Necklace

By working on these projects you will learn:
+ the difference between fiber types
+ to naturally dye protein-based and cellulose-based fibers
+ to plan for projects
+ to work efficiently and effectively
+ to dye with indigo
+ to combine indigo and other dyes
+ to create simple resist patterns on fabric and yarn
+ to dye with dyestuff from your kitchen
+ to dye on unspun fiber
+ and more!

The Phase 3 Kit contains:

Blanks, Yarn, and Fiber
Silk scarves (3)
Organic cotton baby onesie (1)
DMC Embroidery Floss (1 hank)
Blue Sky Fibers Organic Skinny Cotton (1 skein)
Wool top fiber (1 oz)
