The Everyday Utensil Roll Kit by Kristine Vejar, co-owner of AVFKW // featuring fabric and embroidery thread naturally-dyed in the A Verb for Keeping Warm studio

It's time for the release of Making 9 / Simple, and we are excited to share our newest kit The Everyday Utensil Roll, the perfect complement for a picnic, or for everyday use when eating on the go. It requires only one piece of fabric and a little bit of thread, and it is a quick sew.

In Making / Simple, Kristine writes:

This utensil roll is perfect for a picnic, or for everyday use when eating on the go. You can easily take a set of utensils everywhere by making this simple project. It requires only one piece of fabric and a little bit of thread, and it is a quick sew. A turned hem with mitered corners creates a smooth outline. Three pockets are created by hand-stitching with naturally dyed thread, which adds a special, small detail and accentuates the handmade nature of this project. In my version, I dyed a piece of fabric made from a blend of hemp and organic cotton with bark from the eucalyptus tree. As a complement, I then dyed thread and twill tape with cutch to create a warm tobacco-brown color.

We have created kits using the same materials Kristine used in her project! This includes naturally dyed fabric, naturally dyed twill tape, and naturally dyed sashiko thread.

The Everyday Utensil Roll Kit includes enough fabric to create one roll. You can choose to add on a hera marker to help mark the lines for your sashiko stitching.

Please note, this kit does not include instructions. Please purchase a copy of Making Magazine No. 9 Simple for this project's pattern.
