Nani Iro Sateen

Our collection of Nani-Iro Sateen consists of two styles: Drawing Colors and Fuccura are made of rayon, are extremely smooth, soft, with tremendous drape (reminiscent of Liberty of London in softness, but with more drape).

Lei Nani and Situation are made of cotton, so they are not quite as smooth and silky as the sateens made of rayon, though still quite smooth - along the lines of voile. And they are a bit stiffer, and have a bit more body, than the sateens made of rayon - these attributes will make them easier to sew.

Both fabrics are lightweight and suitable for tops, dresses worn with a slip, scarves - and would make an absolutely divine whole cloth quilt. Our collection of Nani-Iro Linen fabric pair beautifully with these sateens.

Nani-Iro is a company founded by Naomi Ito, a Japanese watercolor artist. Naomi creates gorgeous paintings that are transferred to cloth through screen-printing. Many of the designs on her fabrics are asymmetrical. There are often slight nuances, such as tonal printing like white on white, that are mostly seen when the light hits the fabric from a different direction. It is such subtle touches and artistry that make us fall in love with Nani-Iro fabrics again and again. Made in Japan.
