Nine Patch is a fun, quilt-inspired, intarsia cardigan. Deep in the pandemic, feeling the need for serotonin-inducing tiny bursts of color, Julie began playing around with little swatches of leftover Verb yarn. Inspired by a patchwork sweater she designed in the 90s, she began to create a new rendition. And in predictable Julie-fashion, one rendition led to three variations! (Julie is always brimming with creativity - the only thing standing in her way is the need to sleep!) The three variations Julie designed are shown above and are available as kits. You can choose to knit this sweater with elbow-length sleeves or as a vest - instructions for both are included. All kits include enough yarn to knit the version with elbow-length sleeves.

The pattern begins as Cocoknits Method* with the creation of an upper back, shoulders, and fronts - but the sleeves are picked up and knitted down after the body is complete. This way you can decide if you want to continue with sleeves or finish the armholes with ribbing to make a vest. Once the body length is reached, the body stitches are held, then stitches are picked up around the neckline and along the fronts, and a hem is knit.
