Big news! We have started a new yarn brand named Bread & Butter!
It shares Verb's ethos of attention to the health of the earth by being sourced entirely domestically. Bread & Butter yarns are made from US grown wool, and are dyed, spun, and finished in the US. As the name implies, we envision these yarns as staples, wearable and comforting, that cover the range of thicknesses we want to knit with and wear.
We are so excited to bring you the Verb experience at a lower price point, that gives us all a little break! So say hello to Bun, made of super soft US Merino wool, this chunky-weight yarn is thick, soft, and ready to be made into your favorite cozy hats, mitts, scarves, and sweaters. It knits up in a hot second so you'll be wearing it in no time.
Bun comes in 17 beautifully blended colors that Kristine chose by blending by hand. This palette was influenced by our love of hiking, gardening, and living in the Bay Area, and the colors in it are designed to work well together for color work projects.
A fun, single skein project is Madrone Hat - extra cushy, warm, and soft. (Pictured in red.)
If you are looking to knit a cozy sweater, try Mabel by Cocoknits. The pattern can be found on their website and Ravelry
The colorway Soft Serve is undyed and is a great yarn to use when naturally-dyeing, check out our book The Modern Natural Dyer. Included in this book, is a fun project called The Northwoods Hat, using Bun, we have created a kit to make it easy for you to dye and knit your very own hat! Check it out!

As this yarn is blended in small batches, when switching to a new skein, blend the yarn: when reaching the end of the skein, knit one row from the new skein of yarn, and then a row from the old skein of yarn. Repeat for 1-3 rows.
As each dyelot may be slightly different, please make sure to purchase enough yarn to complete your project.
Please note the fiber content of the yarn you are working with, and follow the applicable instructions:
Cotton or linen - Machine washable on cool cycle with pH neutral soap. Lay flat to dry.
Superwash Wool - Machine washable on cool cycle with pH neutral soap, though hand wash recommended. Lay flat to dry.
Wool and Wool blends - Handwash only in lukewarm water with pH neutral soap. Lay flat to dry.
Yarn can be exchanged within 45 days from when we contact you to pick it up (for curbside pickup) or from the day that we ship it for store credit only (less any shipping costs) as long as it is in its original condition (ball band in place). After this time period, yarn can no longer be exchanged. The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. We advise insuring the package as store credit will be given only when the package reaches us. Contact info(at)averbforkeepingwarm(dot)com for a return authorization number.
