Cocoknits Design Your Own Custom Sized Top-Down Cardigan: Coming Soon!
Instructor: Julie Weisenberger of Cocoknits
If you come to the Habu yarn tasting and fall in love with a yarn and wonder what you can do with it, why not try a simple, custom-fit cardigan pattern? Or if you have yarn in your stash you’ve been meaning to use…
Come to class with the following:
+ 4 measurements (Note, I find it more accurate to measure a sweater or shirt that fits you well rather than trying to measure your own body):
+ From shoulder to shoulder (Across the top of your back from sleeve/shoulder seam to sleeve/shoulder seam)
+ Upper arm circumference
+ Bust measurement
+ Armhole depth
(See http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/sizing.html for information on measuring.)
If you are using actual body measurements you’ll need to decide how much ease you want. We will discuss this in class but it helps if you’ve thought about how much bigger than your actual measurements you want to knit. This question is answered if you have measured something you like the fit of rather than your actual body).
+ 1000 - 1400 yards of yarn that gets you 17-20 sts/4″. This can be a very open gauge (like Gisela) or a close gauge (like Katarina).
+ A completed 4 x 4" swatch
+ Measuring tape, ruler, stitch markers, knitting needles used to make swatch. It is a good idea to bring a pair of needles one size up and down from those used to make the swatch.
+ Bring paper, pencil and a calculator and we’ll work out the numbers in class to get you going on a simple cardigan that is custom-fit with English Tailored shoulders and set-in sleeves.
