Pattern Modification: The Prism Dress - Coming Soon!
Instructor: Tasa Gleason
The raglan sleeve is a wonderful way to ease into sewing sleeves if you are new to garment sewing and in this class you will be sewing the Prism Dress with the option of modifying the pattern with some personal details. This class is held in 3 sessions to ensure plenty of time for going over specific modification techniques. You will learn how to add a keyhole detail to the front or back necklines, how to redraft a neck facing (very useful if you tend to alter necklines to be larger or smaller, or if you want to add a neck facing on a pattern that doesn't come with one), and how to hack the Prism Dress into a shirt with sleeve length options. You may also choose to bring some pattern modification ideas of your own to class!
In this class you will be learning techniques that will serve you in your garment making to come. Tasa drafted and graded this pattern so she knows it inside and out, and she is uniquely suited to helping you. Our small class sizes and individual teacher attention result in a huge increase in one’s ability to create a professional looking sewn garment.
Note: there may be homework between class sessions.
Prerequisites: This class is for the advanced intermediate. You should be very confident in basic sewing, including sewing curves and sewing with accurate and consistent seam allowance. This can be your first garment.
