Garment Construction: Tendril Dress: Coming Soon!

Instructor: Tasa Gleason

Interested in sewing our Tendril Dress but don't feel like taking it on by yourself? Join us for a fun class that walks you through the process of sewing on the bias and sewing with linen! You will learn to sew french seams and apply a bias facing to finish the arm and neck openings -- resulting in a clean, sophisticated look.

The Tendril Dress is simple but classic, and its bias drape is flattering and versatile so it makes a great summer dress or slip. Once you are comfortable sewing it you can easily lengthen or shorten it for even more options, or try it in different fabrics to experiment with different looks! The Tendril Dress is also a perfect canvas for shibori, embroidery, or other embellishment techniques.

Class will be held in 2 sessions:

Session 1:
+ discuss sewing with linen and other difficult fabrics
+ take measurements and determine your size
 + trace your pattern
+ start cutting fabric for your Tendril Dress!

Session 2:
+ sew dress body with french seams
+ cut and sew bias facing strips
+ turn and finish facing strips
+ learn technique for hemming dress

Prerequisites: This class is for the advanced intermediate sewist. You should be very confident in basic sewing, including sewing curves and sewing with accurate and consistent seam allowance. This should not be your first garment, but can be your first time sewing with linen or on the bias.
