In this class, Kristine Vejar, author of The Modern Natural Dyer and co-owner of A Verb for Keeping Warm, will teach you to:

+ Print with flowers and leaves onto cloth using The Modern Natural Dyer as reference.

+ Steps in the natural dyeing process to create long-lasting natural color on wool, silk, cotton, and linen.

+ Which plants contain dye, their identifying properties, and where they can be found.

~~~
Eco-printing is a wonderful way to connect with your garden and plants in a whole new way. This captivating technique provides a way to bring your garden everywhere you go and to create cloth that is uniquely yours.
We will meet in the Verb outdoor dye studio and educational dye garden. (Please dress for comfort, crafting, and weather conditions.) There will be a collection of samples from the projects in The Modern Natural Dyer for you to see in person including the Flowers at My Fingertips Sewing Kit and samples of colors from the book. You will leave this class with a series of eco-printed fabrics and a practical foundation to starting your own eco-printing practice using The Modern Natural Dyer.
Each student will receive a Mapping Color Fabric Kit which includes:
+ Square, silk scarf
+ Linen fabric
+ Wool flannel fabric
+ Dye plants* (Flowers will be provided but please feel free to bring some flowers from your garden to experiment with.)
+ Thread
+ The Modern Natural Dyer is recommended.
    You have the option of dyeing additional silk scarves. If you would like to dye more scarves, please add them to your cart below. You must pre-order at least a week in advance, so we have time to prepare them for dyeing.
