Olga Buraya-Kefelian rounds out our collection of Proverbial Club 2014 designers.
She is a wonderfully productive designer and blogger whose work brings life to yarns from many different companies. She is the knitting brains of the creative team behind the gorgeous book Ori Ami Knits, (in which she also models!). She has been a friend of Kristine's and A Verb for Keeping Warm for the past few years. She has traveled extensively and brings an international flavor to her designs. On her blog, olgajazzy.com, Olga shares her favorite "eye candy" from the international fashion knitting scene, fun tips and tricks of the trade, and photos of her travels.
Olga designs for the adventurous knitter with an eye for clean lines and exquisite detail. She describes herself as passionate about geometric shapes and versatility. Check out the Sankaku Shawl (that is knit, not crochet) and the Sanagi Dress below as perfect examples of her aesthetic.
She is inspired by intriguing detail everywhere, from intricate Japanese manhole covers, to the humble polka dot, to the lines of light and shadow on a lighthouse tower. Below is the Gyre Scarf from her Circles and Dots collection.
Olga enjoys employing new combinations of techniques in her patterns to engage intermediate knitters, but is careful to include enough information to keep the patterns accessible to beginners ready for a challenge. We are excited to work with Olga and can't wait to see where her creativity will take us! What we do know is that it will be unique, wearable, and beautiful.
There are still a few spots left in our 2013-14 Pro-Verbial Yarn, Fiber, and Shawl club. I hope you will join us!! Click here to learn more and to sign-up.
