Today we're saying goodbye to Verb's 2023 anniversary colorway, Crimson Queen.
Crimson Queen was inspired by fall leaves, changing from golden yellow, to warm brown, to deep red. One of our favorite trees are the delicate Japanese Maples found in many Bay Area gardens. When the sunlight shines through the maple leaves at the end of a cool fall day, color inspiration abounds!
Three different dye recipes were used to create this color, and each skein went through three dyeing steps before it was ready to be washed.
As we knit with this color, each pop of gold worked its way onto our needles, and the ever changing nature of the color means we were always enchanted by how the colors interplay on the fabric we were creating.
This colorway was available on three yarn bases:
Even Tinier Annapurna (565 yards / 112g), a next-to-skin-soft combination of merino wool and cashmere with a beautiful drape. We used one skein to knit the Ara Shawl by Andrea Mowry (you can see sneak peeks of it in the photos).
Frond (459 yards / 50g), a radiant beam of halo and glow, due to its content of 64% kid mohair and 36% silk. This is wonderful held along with another yarn or knit into a beautiful cloud on its own.
Floating - (437 yards/ 100g) 70% Alpaca + 20% Silk +10% Cashmere = our softest yarn. You can use it to create a single skein scarf or shawl. Or combine it with another yarn, to create an even larger piece, such as Swoop Shawl by Romi Hill!
