When we first released Bun, a couple years back, I immediately cast on for Mabel using Bun in Cottontail and Frond in Meringue. Because of the thickness of yarn, this sweater was on and off the needles in a couple weeks. It's cozy, warm, super soft, and one of my favorite garments. Its gentle, ivory color reminds me of the sun-kissed warm sand along our local beaches. (You can see my Ravelry project notes here.)

This past Fall, in conversation with Thea Colman and planning for our trip to NY, Thea and I were reminiscing about one of our favorite collaborations: Hard Cider. And while discussing samples to bring to Woolen Affair to hang in the booth. She said, well, I can't bring Hard Cider. Because her daughter had adopted it, and had "velveteen rabbited" it. I absolutely love this new-to-me verb and term of endearment. For someone to lovingly wear a sweater, knit out of my yarn, in a pattern designed for my yarn,  to the point of felty goodness is the ultimate compliment.  Well, I have nearly velveteen rabitted my cream Mabel. It has kept me toasty warm and been my trusty travel companion to The Cold Places (Portland and NY) and through the coldest months here in the drafty Bay Area. But it is looking a bit...worn. So to save it, and not get to place of no return, I knit a new one!

As a treat, as soon as I was through Thanksgiving weekend, and the personal and professional focus needed during that time, I cast-on for a new Mabel using one of our deepest hues of Bun - deep, inky, navy blue Clear Night paired with Frond we dipped multiple times into our indigo vat resulting in a blue that is so crisp and clear, it feels like you might see through it into a new, different world. In other words, it is a blue for mystics!  You can see my Ravelry notes for this blue Mabel here.

Now that I have a new Mabel to wear, I can give my older Mabel a little rest and visit to the spa. She can take a nice long soak in some soapy water, dry out using my sweater dryer, get a little defuzzing, and come back into rotation in my closet. This Summer I invested in a dehumidifier for drying flowers and through that research I learned that folks in Scandinavia sometimes use a dehumidifier in place of a dryer to dry their clothing. Ingenius! A treatment that is so much more gentle on the fibers. So I will pull this out as well and turn it on if I find the drying is going too slowly with our rainy weather.
