I am so excited for the Sunshine Make-a-Long!
Summer has always been my favorite season. I have never shed the excitement of being a kid on Summer break. Being a natural dyer, it is the peak time to gather around the dye pot and indigo vat, and use homegrown flowers and plants to create color. I love seeing the garden bursting forth, flowers and leaves askew. I love the long days and ever-stretching natural light. Life feels spacious and open to possibility.
So let's think about how to plan our time making this Summer.

Here are ideas of how to approach choosing your Summer projects:
MANY LITTLE PROJECTS a la SUMMER BEACH READS
Choose a project equivalent to your favorite Summer beach read; that perfect combination of an addictive stitch pattern and easily memorized.
I am in love with the tiny scarf trend. It provides the perfect canvas to try a new stitch pattern or a combination of colors. The sense I get from people is that life l is a touch overwhelming at the moment. So I love the idea of giving my little scarves away as impromptu gifts to friends and family as a little something to add cheer and express my love and appreciation for them.
You could knit the same pattern in different colorways.
Or choose 3-4 different patterns, and knit them in three different yarns and colorways!
I have created a new bundle on Ravelry full of tiny scarf patterns. Give it a look.
You could easily pull together a beautiful collection of Floating or Doodle and Frond, in 3-4 colors, and mix and match them. Holding Floating with Frond, you can make many of the patterns listed in this collection.

Socks also make a great little project. They are easily transportable, and can be as simple as pie, or a place to try a new stitch pattern and technique. Doodle, our sock yarn, made from gently superwashed California Rambouillet wool, is perfect for a pair.

How about trying a new-to-you technique?
For example: colorwork, intarsia, lace, crochet, etc.
Or perhaps you would like to learn to spin or want to spin more.
We have fiber in the colorways listed above!

A DEEP DIVE: THE BIG PROJECT
Maybe Summer for you is thinking about diving deep into one, big project.
Of course, I am always thinking about Fall. I am absolutely not ready to be there yet. But I cannot stand feeling cold and would love a new sweater to wear once it gets chilly. So currently, I am researching sweater patterns to cast-on for.
I am looking to use horizon, pretzel, or graze yarn, here are patterns that would work well with these yarns.
Or, I may use Pretzel held with Frond, I just swatched this combination and it is divine.

Please email us or come into the shop and we would be happy to help you choosing a pattern and yarn!
