Celebrate Verb's 15th anniversary with our special colorway, Candied Apple!
Candied Apple is a blend of warm copper that slowly lingers into a rich, delicious deep red. This color evokes Fall leaves, the harvest of apples, and all the wonderful dishes you can make with apples.

This colorway is available on four delectable yarns:
Frond (459 yards / 50g): A radiant beam of halo and glow, due to its content of 64% kid mohair and 36% silk. This is wonderful held along with another yarn or knit into a beautiful cloud on its own.
Floating (437 yards / 100g): Made of 70% Alpaca + 20% Silk +10% Cashmere, this is our softest yarn. You can use it to create a single skein scarf or shawl. Or combine it with another yarn, to create an even larger piece, such as Swoop Shawl by Romi Hill!
Rumor - (438 yards / 100g): A yarn that we bring out for special occasions like today! Rumor is constructed from a single ply and has an irresistible shine due to its fiber content of 70% Merino and 30% silk.
Nibble - (223 yds / 50g): for those of you who love to support California wool. Nibble is a 2-ply yarn made of soft fine wool and comes from sheep who live in Santa Barbara County and work with the local fire department to nibble and graze along the hillside to help with wildfire suppression. This is a yarn that helps the environment and is also beautiful and lovely to work with.
Please note that Nibble has a rustic twist, akin to hand-spinning. This means you can expect to find small sections that may have a little less twist and even a small piece of grass. We think of these nuances as special characteristics of this small batch yarn!

We used one skein of Floating in Candied Apple to knit a Winterview Scarf by Cecelia Campochiaro.
This pattern is ideal for variegated colorways, such as Candied Apple, due to how those knit and purl stitches move throughout the pattern throughout the triangular shape. This version of the scarf resembles the beautiful warm, hues of reds and browns of autumn leaves. And in the Bay Area, our Winter leaves, like the maples and their beautiful vibrant colors set against the foggy hillsides.
CROCKING
When working with yarn dyed with indigo and with medium to dark shades of natural dyes (especially on slick fibers like mohair), it is common and natural for the dye to rub off on one’s hands while making. This is called crocking. Although the goods have been washed, it takes pressured contact to release the extra dye. Your handwork is part of the dyeing process. The dye can be removed with hot water and soap. From working closely with dyed materials through the making process, typically, the excess dye has been removed, and the crocking will cease.
~~~
ALWAYS use pH-neutral soap when blocking and washing natural dyes.
Please note the fiber content of the material you are working with, and follow the applicable instructions:
Cotton or linen - Machine washable on cool cycle. Lay flat to dry.
Superwash Wool - Machine washable on cool cycle, though hand wash recommended. Lay flat to dry.
Wool and Wool blends - Handwash only in lukewarm water. Lay flat to dry.
