The Parterre Cowl is a cozy cowl designed by Zoë Scheffy of Seaside Knitting. Using two colors of Graze, the pattern of slip stitches alternating with a special textured stitch allows the variegated colors to dance and play through the fabric.
Made with a blend of Targhee, Rambouillet, Merino, and other fine wools, Graze is next-to-skin soft. Grown in Santa Barbara, California by Cuyama Lamb, the sheep graze alongside California's golden hills, to mitigate wildfires. Listen to this episode of our Reverberate Podcast, and hear Jenya, the co-founder of Cuyama, describe their work - and how it feels to have people knit yarn using wool grown by Cuyama sheep. If you love wool, sheep, and stories of incredible people working to help the planet, then this yarn is for you.

"Life is a journey, complete with challenges, successes, moments of doubt and uncertainty, and moments of connection and joy. Each of us experiences our own seasons and rhythm, and we each find our path in different ways.
Like a beautiful garden laid out in anticipation of the bounty to come, the Parterre Cowl highlights transition through both process and punctuation - the steady work of cultivation and the blossoms that reward the effort."
~ Zoë

CROCKING
When working with yarn dyed with indigo and with medium to dark shades of natural dyes (especially on slick fibers like mohair), it is common and natural for the dye to rub off on one’s hands while making. This is called crocking. Although the goods have been washed, it takes pressured contact to release the extra dye. Your handwork is part of the dyeing process. The dye can be removed with hot water and soap. From working closely with dyed materials through the making process, typically, the excess dye has been removed, and the crocking will cease.
~~~
ALWAYS use pH-neutral soap when blocking and washing natural dyes.
Please note the fiber content of the material you are working with, and follow the applicable instructions:
Cotton or linen - Machine washable on cool cycle. Lay flat to dry.
Superwash Wool - Machine washable on cool cycle, though hand wash recommended. Lay flat to dry.
Wool and Wool blends - Handwash only in lukewarm water. Lay flat to dry.
