A Very Fluffy Verb Tracy Hoodie

A Very Fluffy Verb Tracy Hoodie

Interviewing yarn combinations for a fluffy luxurious Tracy hoodie.

As I am sure you have heard we are gearing up to start the Tracy KAL - to knit a cute, very wearable hoodie.

Tracy is originally knit in Pretzel and that is what I first cast-on using.

But.

You know I crave a Tracy knit with Verb yarn.

With a gauge of 18 stitches and 24 rows over 4", the most straightforward recommendation would be Horizon or Graze. Both of which would be amazing (and are sorely in need of being dyed and restocked. Let's plan to do that soon.)

But you know what, I have a vision of a very fluffy, lightweight but warm, bouncy, slightly cropped Tracy (similar to our sample of Andie knit out of Soft Current that people absolutely adore). I am imagining wearing this as a layer over a thin, long sleeved t-shirt (when it is cold outside) and over a tank top (when it is warmer outside) with a pair of overalls or high-waisted jeans.

Cozy and cute and casual but very chic!

So I set off on swatching the following combinations:
+ Two strands of Soft Current
+ Reliquary + Soft Current
+ Reliquary + Wild Bloom
+ Even Tinier Annapurna + Soft Current
+ Even Tinier Annapurna + Wild Bloom

All of these were lovely.

But the winner for loft, bounce, and color is:
Soft Current + Wild Bloom

This combination is just heavenly.

And is what is shown above.

Let's take a closer look at how the swatches shown above are made...

Left to right:

BLUE: Soft Current Bay Sailor held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

IVORY: Soft Current Meringue held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

Left to right:

PETAL PINK: Soft Current Autumn Light held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

DEEP KHAKI GREEN: Soft Current Ginger Green Tea held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

(in real life, this Ginger Green Tea is more green than shown here. It is very tricky to photograph.)

Two colorway options that I want to swatch that would make additional, gorgeous choices for a Tracy include:

DEEP INDIGO BLUE: Soft Current Indigo Blue Sky held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

COPPER: Soft Current Lucky Penny held together with Wild Bloom Quartz

To knit a Tracy using the combination of Soft Current and Wild Bloom, choose the size of sweater you would like to knit.

For this light and airy version, I would choose going with a bit more ease so it can loose and bubbly, about 7-8". So in my case, my full chest circumference is 38", I would probably knit a 45.25". And then I would shorten the body.

TRACY FINISHED FULL CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE
36.5"(40", 43.5", 45.25")(49.75", 54.25", 57.75")(62.25", 65.75", 70.25")
