We have dyed through all our stock of Nibble! We do not have an ETA on when the next batch will arrive as the sweet sheep are currently growing the wool to make the yarn. Perhaps a year and a half? Two years? Though it is hard to say goodbye to Nibble, and we hope to make it again, we decided to celebrate this wonderful collaboration with Cuyama Wool of Santa Barbara by revisiting our version of the Pressed Flowers Shawl by Amy Christoffers.
This version of Pressed Flowers is mini - more like a kerchief than a shawl! It features our 2025 anniversary color: Candied Apple. Paired with Indigo Blue Sky - this color combination echoes those quintessential Autumn days when the sky is a crisp blue and the trees leaves' are shades of warm reds streaked with copper.
Nibble is for those of you who love to support California wool. Nibble is a 2-ply yarn made of soft fine wool and comes from sheep who live in Santa Barbara County and work with the local fire department to nibble and graze along the hillside to help with wildfire suppression. This is a yarn that helps the environment and is also beautiful and lovely to work with. This yarn is naturally-dyed in our Oakland studio.
(Please note that Nibble has a rustic twist, akin to hand-spinning. This means you can expect to find small sections that may have a little less twist and even a small piece of grass. We think of these nuances as special characteristics of this small batch yarn!)
To make this kerchief-sized version, use the following modifications:
+ Cast-on and knit the set up chart.
+ Knit 2 repeats only of the main pattern chart.
+ Knit the border chart and cast-off as written.
+ Block and wear as a cute and warm bandana!
