Our Solstice Experience is similar to what many know as an advent calendar. Towards the beginning of December, you will receive a collection of gifts, marked and designed to be opened each day for seven days leading up to the Solstice (December 21st, 2023).
As December can be quite hectic, this experience is designed and intended to cultivate a little bit (or a lot) of space each day to knit and to be calm and present with what is a beautiful time of year. To embrace the darkness and rejuvenate, as we pass through the Solstice and head once again towards the light. And to give you a little gift each day to inspire your creativity and to offer care.
Our focus will be on transition; reflecting on 2023, and considering what our hopes are going forward.
This year, we invite members to join us for our daily 10 minute silent, virtual meditation. (Time to be determined.)
Between now and late November when we ship your kit to you, we will be busy designing, gathering, and creating your gifts. This is our second time creating a kit like this - last year's kit was a hit! We have so many fun surprises up our sleeve!

You will receive the following:+ 2 skeins of worsted-weight yarn: Last Fall, we released a new yarn brand named Bread & Butter. Made of US wool and milled in the US, this is a new way for us to bring the Verb experience to a wider community. For this year's Solstice Experience for the first time ever, Verb will be dyeing on Bread & Butter's worsted-weight yarn, Everyday. (We are so excited!) You will receive one skein of Everyday naturally-dyed by us and one skein dyed by the mill. This yarn is so soft and cozy; perfect for the chilly Winter season.
There are two choices of colorways: Cool (which may include green, purple, and / or blue) and Warm (which may include reds and oranges).
+ A cowl pattern designed by Tif Neilan using the yarn included in the package. We are so excited to once again team-up with Tif. She uses color in beautiful and unexpected ways including intriguing textures and stitch combinations. We cannot wait to see her new design!
+ A collection of gifts to be opened each day leading up to the Solstice and on the Solstice.

All items on your order for the Solstice Experience will ship together. If you would like your non-Solstice items sooner, please create two orders.
When working with fabric, thread, and fiber dyed with indigo, it is common and natural for the blue dye to rub off on one’s hands while sewing. This is called crocking. Although the goods have been washed, it takes pressured contact to release the extra indigo dye. Your handwork is part of the indigo dyeing process. The blue dye can be removed with hot water and soap. From working closely with indigo dyed materials through the making process, typically, the excess dye has been removed, and the crocking will cease.

Please note the fiber content of the material you are working with, and follow the applicable instructions:
Cotton or linen - Machine washable on cool cycle with pH neutral soap. Lay flat to dry.
Superwash Wool - Machine washable on cool cycle with pH neutral soap, though hand wash recommended. Lay flat to dry.
Wool and Wool blends - Handwash only in lukewarm water with pH neutral soap. Lay flat to dry.

Packages ship Tuesday through Saturday via USPS. Once shipped, you will receive a confirmation email and tracking number. Please use the tracking number provided and contact the shipping carrier directly with any questions about transit and delivery.
Please select the insured option at checkout to ensure compensation for a lost package. Once the package has been picked up by the shipping carrier, we are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged packages. We do not offer refunds or credits for lost or stolen packages.
If you select an insured option and need to file a claim with USPS, we will provide you with the documentation needed to complete your claim. Packages are insured for the order total. If your package is stolen, please contact your credit card company to receive any possible compensation.

International Orders
All international orders are shipped uninsured USPS First Class Parcel Post. We are not responsible for packages which are held in customs or lost. International orders may incur customs fees. We are not responsible for fees you may incur. International shipments can take two months to reach their destination. We caution against placing an order if you live outside the United States. At this time, we are unable to ship to the United Kingdom due to the complicated VAT situation.
Curbside Pick-Up
To pick up your order at our shop, when checking out, under shipping method, choose Pick up at our Oakland store - 6328 San Pablo Ave.
You will receive an email when your order is ready. Orders placed Tuesday-Saturday are typically ready within 2-3 hours. To pick up your order, come to the shop between 11am - 3pm, Tuesday-Saturday. Knock on the front door and give us your name.
Pre-orders
Pre-orders will ship on the date listed on the product’s webpage. If you ordered additional items, all items will be shipped with your pre-order. If you would like those items shipped separately, please place two separate orders.
