Nibble (California fine wool) in Bay Sailor and Marine Layer - 1 skein of each color
Shawn cast-on with Bay Sailor, knit the portion for the brim striping Bay Sailor with Marine Layer, and then completed the hat using 100% Marine Layer. This hat is reversible - so you can either wear it with the blue Bay Sailor or multi-color Marine Layer on the outside. Both are very cute!
In order to use up as much as possible of these precious skeins of Nibble, Shawn opted to make the Adult M size at a gauge of 6.5 st/in. The pattern yardage chart indicated that this would use 390yds of yarn (out of the 400 total yards in two skeins).
While this hat was started on a size 3 needle, once further along, it became apparent that the gauge was loosening up. Shawn then switched down to a size 2 to stay on gauge and keep the fabric nice and dense.
We love how the wispy blues and lavenders of Marine Layer gently dip in and out of the stripes next to Bay Sailor, punctuated by bright pops of rusty reddish-orange.
This project is a nice, effortless knit - and would make a lovely gift.
